Surgery Successful

On Monday afternoon we were informed that there was an opening in the operating room on Tuesday so they wanted to schedule Emma for her tracheostomy. We arrived at the hospital at 9:00 am and they were ready for her already. We were taken through a tunnel under the street from CHOC to St. Joseph’s. At that point we sat in a waiting room while Emma had her surgery. It when very well and now she has a trach in her neck. For the most part, she has been adjusting to it all very well. She had a couple of minor spells yesterday and last night, but hopefully that is just a part of it. After the surgery we spoke with one of our cardiologists and he told us that if Emma can breathe well on her own with the trach that we will wait a few months to have the heart surgery. That means a lot longer in the hospital, but it also makes for an easier surgery. The plan for right now is for Emma to remain in Orange for a week until the first trach change is done by the surgeon. If all goes well until then, she can be transferred back to Mission as early as next Tuesday. We are becoming more comfortable at Orange, but miss our nurses at Mission.

I am glad to hear that Emma's surgery went well. I wanted to take a moment and tell you about a friend of mine. Their daughter was born Nov. 2004. She was born premature and had many health problems. The biggest lead to heart surgery like your Emma is facing. They had the surgery when she was about 6 months old. Now at almost a year you would never know to look at her. She is home, healthy, and growing like crazy. The most remarkable thing is that although she was in the hospital for months, she is not really behind in any of her development. The first couple of weeks after the surgery were scary but after that point she went home and hit the ground running so to speak. She is crawling, cooing, and laughing. It was like all she needed was that surgery. Anyways, I know it is hard going through it but I hope this story helps encourage you. Just hang in there and I will keep praying for you.

Several people have written to ask me about what the Scriptures have to teach concering healing and would I please put my findings down in writing. From my understanding and study of the Scriptures there are three distinct types of healing:

(a) Instant Healing
(b) Progressive Healing
(c) Ultimate Healing

INSTANT HEALING:

24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; AND HE HEALED THEM. Matthew 4:24 (KJV)

34 AND HEALED MANY that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. Mark 1:34

40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, AND HEALED THEM. 41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. Luke 4:40-41 (KJV)

6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 And IMMEDIATELY THE MAN WAS MADE WHOLE, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the Sabbath. John 5:6-9 (KJV)

PROGRESSIVE HEALING:

Some people were not healed immediately as Jesus ministered to them, but progressively. The same will be true with us when we minister healing to people. Some will be healed in a matter minutes, hours, days, or months. For some, God will use the skills of professional healthcare workers such as doctors, nurses and medical treatments to bring about healing and restoration.

22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, AND PUT HIS HANDS UPON HIM, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25 After that HE PUT HANDS (AGAIN) UPON HIS EYE, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. Mark 8:22-24 (KJV)

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, which he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass that, AS THEY WENT, THEY WERE CLEANSED. Luke 17:11-14
(KJV)

12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole (healthy and well) need not A PHYSICIAN (a medical doctor), but they that are sick. (they need a doctor) Matthew 9:12 (KJV)

14 Luke, the beloved PHYSICIAN, and Demas, greet you. Col. 4:14 (KJV)

23 Drink no longer water, but USE A LITTLE WINE (as a medicine) for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. I Timothy 5:23

God may choose to progressively heal someone when we anoint them, lay hands on them, and minister healing to them in the power and authority of Jesus name OR He may choose to allow this same sick person to go to the hospital and receive medical treatments for their illness. Either way, they person will receive healing from the Lord over time.

ULTIMATE HEALING:

It's called, "going home time"

The Word tells us that God has given us "three score and ten" (70 years) of life. And "by virtue of strength" God way "extend our warranty" so that some may live to be over a hundred years old.

We need to take into consideration the "will of God" in every person's life that we are trying our best to Minister Healing too. I firmly believe that when we are called upon to come and Minister Healing to a dying loved one, that we need to continually be asking the Spirit of God what His perfect will is for this person's life. He will speak into our spirits and reveal to us whether we need to engage the "spirit of death" in spiritual warfare for this "soul" or not. Or He will reveal to us if it is just their "going home time". If that is the case, we then need to just pray that He will help them to ease out of this world as peacefully as possible.

There will be those that the Lord will bring the Ultimate Healing too by just allowing their mortal bodies to die, and releasing their spirit to "go to be with the Lord". In that moment, they receive their Ultimate Healing experience!

5:1 We know that our body--the tent we live in here on earth--will be destroyed. But when that happens, God will have A HOUSE (a heavenly body) for us. It will not be a house made by human hands; instead, it will be A HOME IN HEAVEN that will last forever.

2 But now we groan in this tent. We want God to give us our heavenly home, (body)

3 because it will clothe us so we will not be naked.

4 While we live in this body, we have burdens, and we groan. We do not want to be naked, but we want to be clothed with our heavenly home. (Body) Then this body that dies will be fully covered with life.

5 This is what God made us for, and he has given us the Spirit to be a guarantee for this new life.

6 So we always have courage. We know that while we live in this body, we are away from the Lord.

7 We live by what we believe, not by what we can see.

8 So I say that we have courage. We really want to be AWAY FROM THIS BODY and be AT HOME (in a heavenly body) with the Lord. II Corinthians 5:1-8

I sincerely hope that this brings a better understanding to our study on healing.
